Oppifestival took place in Helsinki on 11 and 12 of April. This event was a merge of educational institutions and companies which are interested in education, and most of them were from Finland and UK.

For us the goal to be at OPPI was: to know who is doing what and to network. Goals which were fulfilled. We talked with expositors and speakers, however if you want to read a detail description of the event we encourage you to look through the posts of et.lakes [day 1 (11.4.) and day 2 (12.4.)  ]

From our behalf, we leave a couple of general comments in this post.

i) Space for innovation in the registration process

This comment is not directly related to the content of the event, but if you assists to happenings with medium to big audiences, you will notice that the registration procedure hardly has evolved. The technology might change, as in earlier times you were registered using paper and pencil, later with PCs, now with tablet, but still, there is room for improvement.

Having said that, it should be recognized the wooden tags of the event, which were innovative through my eyes! : )

ii) Content

The event was informative. We talk with representatives of different companies as Sanoma and Rovio, as well as with other speakers. Some of the talks were interesting and one could find information from different aspects of the actual educational challenges: from the bottom-up and from the top-bottom approach.

What we should stop to think further, because it is a critical worldwide problem, how can we solve the tension between lack of qualify people which employers need vs the increasing unemployment. It actually sounds as a contradiction. There is something no complete right in what we are doing.

Paradox

Ubium understands these problematics and it will have an important role in solving them. However, we also have to learn to focus in order to transmit our message clearly.

Summarizing, it was an interesting event, and now I close the post with the video of one artist, which was in OPPI and I personally admire: signmark.
